Part 2 / Family

I watched the film “Romulus, My Father” and want to tell its story which includes some important family issues that influences the children mostly. It is obvious that since the beginning scenes of the film, it does not reflect a happy and desirable family life although the relationship between the father and son is depicted so sacred and special.

The most strange part of the film is the attitude of father to her wife’s affair. Because of the explicitly known affair of the mother, the family could not be seen as living together, she has two lives and her husband seems to really admit it. I think the reason behind this attitude of the father is that he is aware of the mental problems of his wife and knows that no matter what she treats him, he should be close to her because he really loves the mother of his child. Therefore, the father has an implicit authority that controls every member of the family without applying pressure and acting violently.

In this kind of broken family, for the child growing up before his fellows would be an inevitable process that he witnesses the suicide of his mother and his father’s psychological collapse after that incident. However, all these staggering experiences made him to be more powerful in his life.
